NORTH AUBURN, Placer County — Placer County’s sewer-construction project directory now identifies the first phase of its Highway 49 Wastewater Capacity Improvement Project as completed in 2026.
The official county construction listing describes a new wastewater force main installed between Quartz Drive and the Sewer Maintenance District 1 regional pump station on Joerger Road in unincorporated western Placer County.
Why additional wastewater capacity matters
A sewer force main is a pressurized pipe that carries wastewater pumped from one location to another. Increased pumping and pipeline capacity can help serve existing and future demand. The county’s entry documents completion of this identified first phase; it does not establish that every future sewer-capacity project along Highway 49 is complete.
Who operates the local sewer network?
Placer County’s Environmental Utilities program operates and maintains several sewer districts, including Sewer Maintenance District 1 in North Auburn. Its website provides information about user fees, service responsibilities and emergencies. Homeowners should check which side of a property connection is publicly maintained and which belongs to the customer before arranging repairs.
The county lists 530-889-6846 for sewer service questions and 530-886-4913 as an emergency number. Anyone reporting an active sewage overflow should provide a precise address and follow safety instructions.
